Why can't you miss this activity?

Comfort is guaranteed. After all, it’s not every day you get picked up at your hotel in a safari truck to take you deep into the Dominican jungle .

    Meet a local family
Many tourists who visit Punta Cana only see the most distorted reality of what the Dominican Republic is.

The first stop on this tour is a rural village , where you’ll meet a local family . Everyday experiences, like watching the children go to school or trying traditional dishes, will give you a glimpse into the life of this country.

From the village to the city

Riding in the safari truck we will arrive at the beautiful city of Higüey , to experience the contrast between a small town and a large Dominican city.

The bustling activity of this city of nearly 300,000 inhabitants is constant. You’ll have the opportunity to see firsthand a place of worship essential to understanding Christianity: the Cathedral of Our Lady of Altagracia .

    Rancho Valencia, crafts and tradition

There’s another part of the island to explore, one more connected to the interior of the jungle. At Rancho Valencia , you’ll see how many of the Taíno handicrafts , typical of the country, are made.

    Itinerary

Depending on the hotel where you are staying, we will pick you up around 7:20 am to begin our tour in a safari truck into the Dominican jungle.

We'll begin by visiting a preschool so you can see how and under what conditions Dominican children study in rural areas . After this wonderful experience, we'll head to a sugarcane, coffee, and cacao plantation. There, you'll learn about the economic importance of this sector in the Dominican Republic, as these are the country's most widespread crops.

From the rural we continue our route towards the urban, heading to the city of Higüey to visit the cathedral of Our Lady of Altagracia, completed in 1971.

Once the visit to the basilica is over, we will take you to Rancho Valencia so that you can experience the true craftsmanship of this region.

Here you'll also learn how coconut oil and milk are produced , as this ranch boasts a large expanse of palm groves. To end our visit to the ranch in the best possible way, nothing beats a refreshing swim in the Anamuya River .

Finally, if you're still keen for a swim, we'll head to either the wild Macao beach or the Yonú River, depending on the weather. Both are fantastic places to visit, but we're sure either one will amaze you.
